What you need
A pencil, an eraser and a sheet of paper are enough. Draw lightly at first, then trace the lines you want to keep when your elephant is finished.
Step 1 of 6
Draw the elephant's head
Start with one large vertical oval. This simple shape becomes the elephant's head and gives you a center for the rest of the body.

Add two large ears
Draw a big rounded ear on each side of the head. Let the ears sit partly behind the oval and make them similar without requiring perfect symmetry.
Beginner tip: Use broad, simple curves instead of adding folds or texture inside the ears.

Your drawing after step 2 Step 3 of 6
Draw the trunk, tusks and face
Extend two curved lines down from the face to form a long trunk. Add a pointed tusk on each side, two small eyes and a few short trunk lines.

Your drawing after step 3 Step 4 of 6
Add the elephant's body
Draw one large horizontal oval behind the head. Allow the head to overlap the body so the two simple shapes feel connected.

Your drawing after step 4 Step 5 of 6
Draw the legs and feet
Add four short, sturdy legs below the head and body. Round the feet and use three tiny curves on each one to suggest toenails.
Beginner tip: Keep the legs wide and simple so the elephant looks balanced and easy to copy.

Finish with a tufted tail
Draw a short curved tail at the back of the body and add a small leaf-like tuft at its end. Your easy elephant drawing is complete.

That's it! You have drawn a elephant.
Trace your favorite lines a little darker, erase any unwanted pencil marks and add color if you would like.
