What you need
A pencil, an eraser and a sheet of paper are enough. Draw lightly at first, then trace the lines you want to keep when your lion is finished.
Step 1 of 6
Draw the lion's head
Start with one circle. This becomes the lion's face and gives you a center for the mane.

Your drawing after step 1 Step 2 of 6
Add the lion's zigzag mane
Draw a large ring of soft zigzag points around the head. Vary the points slightly while keeping the mane roughly circular.

Your drawing after step 2 Step 3 of 6
Draw the lion's friendly face
Add two oval eyes, a small dark nose and two curved mouth lines inside the head circle.

Your drawing after step 3 Step 4 of 6
Add the seated body and paws
Draw two long curves below the mane for the front of the body. Add rounded back legs and simple front paws at the bottom.

Your drawing after step 4 Step 5 of 6
Draw a curved tail
Add a long tail on the right side of the body. Finish its tip with a small pointed tuft.

Your drawing after step 5 Step 6 of 6
Finish the paws and tail tuft
Add short toe lines to the paws and one small inner line on the tail tuft. These minimal details complete the sitting lion.

Your drawing after step 6
That's it! You have drawn a lion.
Trace your favorite lines a little darker, erase any unwanted pencil marks and add color if you would like.
