Beginner ragdoll cat

6 steps

A circle for the head and two triangle ears, then the face with eyes, nose, mouth and whiskers, a large fluffy body, the back legs and a long fluffy tail, and a few fur lines for the long soft coat. Six steps.

What you need

A pencil, an eraser and a sheet of paper are enough. Draw lightly at first, then trace the lines you want to keep when your ragdoll cat is finished.

  1. Step 1 of 6

Draw a circle for the Ragdoll cat's head

Start your Ragdoll cat drawing with a smooth circle. Leave plenty of room underneath for the cat's soft, full body.

  2. Step 2 of 6

    Add two triangular ears

Place one triangular ear on each side of the top of the head. Let their lower edges overlap the circle slightly.

Beginner tip: Try to make the ears similar in height so the face stays balanced.

  3. Step 3 of 6

    Create the sweet Ragdoll face

Draw two large round eyes, a small nose and a short curved mouth. Add three whiskers on each cheek and small tufts around the sides of the face.

    Draw the fluffy sitting body

Use long, slightly jagged curves to form a wide body below the head. Add the chest point, two front legs and rounded paws at the bottom.

Add back legs and a plumed tail

Draw a rounded back leg on each side, then sweep a long fluffy tail out to the right. Give the tail a broad, soft silhouette.

  6. Step 6 of 6

    Finish the long, soft fur

Scatter a few tapered fur lines over the chest, sides, legs and tail. These simple marks give your Ragdoll cat its soft coat without making the drawing busy.

Beginner tip: Follow the direction of each body part when you add the fur strokes.

That's it! You have drawn a ragdoll cat.

Trace your favorite lines a little darker, erase any unwanted pencil marks and add color if you would like.
